Since I became a stay at home mom to my furbabies, and all of my human kids have left home I have found that I spoil my little furry rug rats. And I have become just like so many crazy animal lovers that are always showing perfect strangers pictures of my dogs and kitten. Yes I am that person.
Let me tell you a little about my babies. I have two dogs Willow, and Zander, and they have a cat Malley.
All of my pets have such different likes and dislikes. They are just like humans with their idiosyncrasies. One hating to have her paws touched. One that is an attention whore. And the cat that acts nothing like a cat.
Willow (the golden retriever pit mix) only likes fresh water, so you can not go into the bathroom for anything with out her following you and jumping into the bathtub and giving you the look. You know the look the one that says you know what you are to do get on with it. The grey kitten follows with Willows strange fresh water fetish and they will wait in the bathtub until you turn the water on.
Malley the grey kitten, was found in a foreclosed home with her three brothers, they still had the umbilical cord attached when one of the guys I worked with called me and asked if I wanted some kittens. After yelling No, No I don’t, he told me the story and I rushed to the closest pet store to buy kitten formula and he brought the poor little things to me. After bottle feeding the little monsters every two hours, and the dogs loving on them and snuggling with the little runts all but Malley ended up finding great families. For some reason Malley ended up bonding so closely with the dogs I just couldn’t find her a new home. I don’t think that she knows she is a cat, while she does lover her cat tree; everything else leads me to believe she thinks she is a dog.
Zander (A golden retriever Sheppard mix we think) was rescued as a puppy, at two years old he still is very much a puppy. I adore him, but he does think that he is a lap dog. I will say that yes this is totally my fault. But he gives you the puppy eyes and it is so hard to stay firm. I am a bad mommy, as I just have the hardest time telling him no in that firm voice that he needs to hear.
As I am the crazy pet lady I have search for ways to make my life and the furbabies lives better and healthier. I have to say that I have found some very cool must have pet products. A great vacuum that removes pet hair is one of the most important tools that you can own. I go so far as I have slip covers on my couch and love seat just so I can easily remove the dog hair. I have not been able to locate one of these but Bissell makes a dog brush that attaches to most vacuums, I am not sure if my babies would let me use it on them but if so I would cut down on the dog hair that I am always trying to remove from everything.
Finding a toy that they do not destroy is very challenging, they are hard on all of their toys. They tend to tear them up very quickly; this is why I am now much more selective in the toys that I get them. The kids do love their Kongs, but they prefer peanut butter in them and it ends up lasting longer and is less expensive then buying the canned cheese for dogs.
These are just a few things that I will be blogging about in the future. I hope that you will enjoy the list of cool products, great ideas, and tips to make your pets lives great
